Christmas holidays are the first time after summer that most people have the time to slow down a bit and really relax. Even though more and more I think of the Christmas week as the craziest week of the year! It might just be me, but as I witness all that shopping, cooking, cleaning, running around…I’m starting to think we are our own Grinches at times…
But as we move forward into the new year, we all take some time off, not only from work, but from obligations and we reflect on the year that is ending and thinking about the year that is comming.
That is the time when micro business owners make new plans and get excited about projects they are going to create throughout the next 365 days.
What are you going to do? When are you going to get excited about each new day? When do you think it’s time for you to get to that point where you love so much what you do that you don’t want to stop working because it’s so much fun?
Toward the last days of the year, I always take some time to plan my next year, not only in business. If you are thinking about starting your own thing, I suggest you take it easy this holiday season and start by getting ideas, envisioning how it would look or what you would like to do. Take some time early in the morning or late in the evening when there is no noise and no distractions to do this.
Start here; you have plenty of information and inspiration on these pages. Or download my manifesto and read it. In it I talk a lot about the new type of entrepreneurs, or business owners, the current climate, the changes people are imposing and creating, the social changes that are happening and what is the future of micro businesses. Besides, you will find 10 amazing micro businesses that will serve you as inspiration to start your own thing and get excited about it. It’s the perfect holiday read if you are seriously thinking about it and if you want to devote some time these holidays to it.
If, after you read the manifesto, you take a strong stand on some of these ideas and topics, if you get excited and want to get going as soon as possible, that’s how you will know you are ready. If you don’t, maybe something is still missing…
Decide to let loose, start dreaming up your future micro business and do it for fun. What you would do every day, who you would work with, how does your shop or your office look like, where is it located, what kind of projects are you working on, etc. You just might find yourself putting ideas on paper and going for it, discussing it with your friends or family.
New Year is the perfect time to start working on something new, because we all look at a new year as a fresh slate, wanting to be better and create better opportunities for ourselves and for others.
Happy New Year! I’m wishing you a lot of smart and interesting ideas, creative projects to work on, successful new micro businesses, as well as more growth for those already running, great partners and associates, and prosperity. Have fun for the New Year’s Eve, I’ll talk to you soon… :)
